Vase posts are sometimes added to the corners opposite the headstone to hold flowers.

What can go in the centre of a kerbed memorial?
There are plenty of options when it comes to deciding how you would like the centre of your loved ones kerbed memorial to look.
The most commonly chosen additions are glass chippings, which come in a variety of colours, including green, blue, white and many more. You can also choose granite chippings, which are light grey in colour.
