What size is a Headstone?
Our standard size for Memorials with a Base is 2.5ft Tall x 2ft Wide (including base) x 1ft Deep (Including base) and we use 3” thick material. Headstones can come in many shapes and sizes, our specialists will be able to advise what particular Cemeteries or Churchyards allow as generally there are certain restrictions put in place regarding size.
How much does Headstone engraving cost?
Headstone engraving cost varies depending on style, finish and size. All inscriptions are priced per letter. Please be sure to check with us if you have a particular finish of engraving you wish for us to use (i.e. lead filled) that it would be suitable for the Material you have chosen. Which Materials last the longest?
Granite is the most hard-wearing Material commonly used for Memorials, at most a wipe over with a damp cloth (being careful around any engraving) should take care of keeping the material looking fresh. With Marble, Sandstone and Limestone being much more porous materials they are known to attract lichen, moss and are more likely to stain making them more difficult to keep clean. Deterioration also occurs much faster on the more porous Materials.
